Fall All-CIF teams announced

After an exciting fall season closes, the All-CIF-San Diego Sections teams have been announced. The teams were selected by local media in accordance with the San Diego Hall of Champions.

FB: Super Bowl champion returns to alma mater

Carlsbad-alum-turned-Super-Bowl-champion Brandon Chillar has returned home.

According to the North County Times, Chillar stepped into the role of as an assistant coach less than a year after the Green Bay Packers won Super Bowl XLV.

BB: Reichner to lead Ramona staff

Dave Reichner has been hired as the boys basketball coach at Ramona, the North County Times reported.

A former three-sport athlete at Carlsbad High, Reichner replaces Ken Scheib.

Meigs out as Torrey Pines AD

Torrey Pines High has replaced longtime athletic director Anne Meigs, the North County Times reported.

Assistant football coach Chas Doerrer replaces Meigs, who said she will continue to coach boys and girls tennis and teach three classes.

VB: Torrey Pines’ Harrah steps down

Torrey Pines volleyball coach Jim Harrah is stepping down to spend more time with his family, Terry Monahan of the North County Times reported.

Harrah resigned as the girls volleyball coach, ending a 31-year career that included 22 seasons with volleyball teams at Torrey Pines. Brennan Dean has taken over the girls team.

BB: SP’s Flanagan leaving Eagles

San Pasqual girls basketball coach Beck Flanagan has resigned, North County Times’ Tom Sheridan reported.

Flanagan, 28, said he is applying to graduate schools with the intention of seeking a graduate assistant coaching position. San Pasqual went 65-26 during Flanagan’s three-year tenure.

BB: Westview’s McHenry leaving on high note

Bob McHeffey has resigned as girls basketball coach at Westview High a month after leading the Wolverines to their first CIF San Diego Section title, North County Times’ John Maffei reported.

McHeffey led Westview to a 181-93 record in nine seasons, including a 26-8 mark and a section Division II title in 2011.
