Fall All-CIF teams announced

After an exciting fall season closes, the All-CIF-San Diego Sections teams have been announced. The teams were selected by local media in accordance with the San Diego Hall of Champions.

BB: Bohman leading the Eagles

Herself a high school and college basketball standout, Eisha Bohman is trying to build a successful program as a coach.

Bohman is in her second year as varsity coach at Santa Fe Christian.

D.C. woman first female prep football coach

Natalie Randolph was introduced today  before cheering players and staff as the coach at Calvin Coolidge Senior High School in Washington D.C.

Randolph, 29,  is believed to be the only woman coaching a high school varsity football team in the U.S.

LCC’s Brown steps down

La Costa Canyon’s Darrin Brown has stepped down from his post as head football coach, choosing to spend more time with his young family.

Under Brown, the Mavericks were 22-3 over the past two seasons. Brown has been head coach for 10 years in all.

Long career of Draz celebrated

Seventy-nine years young, Dick Draz’s name is synonymous with San Diego aquatics. The newly elected president of the San Diego Water Polo Officials Association, Draz is featured in a recent profile by the North County Times‘ Terry Monahan.

Fall prep awards announced

From football to field hockey, the San Diego Section saw tremendous success over the Fall 2009 season.

Two football teams and three volleyball teams competed for state championships, while a number of individuals in cross country and golf did as well. Congratulations to all of the athletes involved, and kudos to the coaches that supported them along the way.

Legends Banquet a success!

Standing ovation for 2009 Legends

A packed house at the Scottish Rite Center looked on as the 2009 class of San Diego High School Coaching Legends was inducted on Thurs., November 12.

The class of 12 successfully entertained attendees with their speeches, from the disbelief of Jim Knox to the insightful advice of Anne Rosser.

The night also included a tribute to Bruce Binkowski, again the master of ceremonies and a longtime friend of the San Diego Hall of Champions.
